Tutini is the Tiwi word for poles used in traditional ceremonies. The Pukumani Pole is a contemporary artistic expression of animportant aspect of the artist’s Tiwi culture. Hand carved from Ironwood and painted with natural ochres and charcoal sourced locally on the Tiwi islands, the poles are painted with references to specific jilamara, or body designs.

The three poles sit beautifully on this clay coloured corduroy hat of which $5 from every one sold is being donated to the cultural activities of the Pularumpi Primary School on Melville Island.
